The Strathmore Wheat Kings Junior Hockey Society is a not-for-profit organization that was formed in 2008 to provide an opportunity for local players to continue to play competitive
junior hockey close to family and friends. The team applied and was accepted to begin playing in the Heritage Junior Hockey League for the 2008-2009 season. Since September of 2008 Strathmore and the surrounding areas have enjoyed exciting and entertaining fast paced Junior B hockey action.

Junior B hockey provides an opportunity for hockey players up to 21 years old to continue to play a highly competitive level of hockey without the time and travel commitments demanded in the Junior A leagues. Players are able to balance their schedules between
education, career and a high caliber of skilled hockey competition. For those who have not seen Junior B hockey for a few years the speed, skill and  excitement will impress you.

Our goals are similar to what they were in the first year but have been modified and refined over the past few seasons. Firstly we are striving to have competitive, fast and highly skilled players willing to work hard to become a championship team both now and into the future. While we hope to provide opportunities for local area players we will select the best players for the team and the organization.  We are a first class organization that values honesty and respect in our dealings with players, volunteers, sponsors, fans and our competitors and colleagues. We want to be the best place to play Junior B hockey in Alberta and provide an experience that will be treasured by players, their families, fans, volunteers and the community. We want to be involved in the community and contributing to the community. We are also very pleased to be able to help other non-profit  groups and charities raise money and provide donations for many good causes. Finally we need to be financially stable and self sufficient to have the team succeed for years to come.

We are overwhelmed and delighted with the support and acceptance by our fans and the community. We must always keep this at the forefront in considering the success of the Strathmore Wheat Kings Junior Hockey Society.

We have set our sights high  and have high expectations of the players individually and of the team. We are committed to bringing a stronger, faster, skilled exciting brand of hockey to  our fans and supporters each season.
